The Nature of Lust
2010-08-12 06:50:00
For the OTR driver there are many temptations while at the truck stop. The Internet also makes access to pornographic sites too easy. The curious look may seem harmless, but the images will grab thoughts, seduce and “hook” a person’s will. Soon, like a slave, he returns over and over again. What satisfied yesterday will not satisfy tomorrow. The viewer will want more. It’s the nature of lust. Pornography soon degenerates into an insatiable addiction. Men addicted to pornography often become adulterous or seek out prostitutes, because the wife will be unable or unwilling to comply with the demands. Marriages are destroyed and families are torn apart as everyone suffers. This is a vicious cycle; one no man should walk into with his eyes open. Please give us a call and let us help you break the cycle. Comment here.

Gambling: Don’t Bet On It
2010-08-09 07:01:00
Let’s talk about addiction to gambling. This can be a very touchy subject because of all the legalized ways to do it these days in areas like casinos, daily lottery games, and a wide variety of sporting events. The vision of financial freedom is just around the corner with each and every wager. It always seems so close and might very well happen the next time around. To make matters worse, when you get a taste of winning, this only fuels the gambling high. I read stories about lottery winners who squandered everything away and life is now worse than it was before. Gambling can become an addiction which brings devastation to families from every neighborhood. Don’t get caught up in gambling. Not only will your wallet appreciate it, you and your family will as well. Let us know if we can help. Comment here.

Traits of Addiction
2010-08-04 07:14:00
As we address many different types of addictions, many of them follow a similar downward pattern. Let me share with you the five identifiable traits of addiction:
· The first one is your focus, much of which is directed toward that one thing.
· The second one is tolerance. You find that you don’t mind those things that at one time had bothered you.
· Number three is denial. You can’t see the problem and won’t recognize it even when others point it out to you.
· Number four is consequences. Even though you endure terrible consequences, you still won’t admit you have a problem.
· And last but not least, is painful withdraw. If you don’t get what you are addicted to, you become irritated, angry, suffer anxiety attacks, and get depressed.
Don’t let it come to this; seek help before it’s too late. Comment here.

The Choice Is Yours
2010-07-29 06:45:00
Addictions and other life-controlling behaviors begin when an individual makes wrong choices, which over time, progress into enslavement and physical disease. If this enslavement and disease continue, they eventually produce painful consequences that affect the mind, body, and spirit, and often hurt others as well. Keeping this in mind, make the right choices the first time around. Of course, that’s easier said than done, but even if you make a wrong choice once or twice, remember that there is forgiveness out there waiting for you. With the help of others, you can overcome these wrongful choices. Let us know if you need help making the right choice. Comment here.

First Things First
2010-07-21 06:55:00
Where does the strength come from to overcome addictions and destructive habits? What role does an individual take in one’s own recovery process? What is the counselor’s role? Who else is required to be involved to help complete the necessary steps in order to break the patterns of addiction? These are all valid questions you must ask if you plan on full recovery from any type of addictive behavior you are entangled in. Let me also encourage you, if you are struggling with an addiction, to first recognize and admit the destructive pattern in your life and start there. If you can’t accomplish this first step, everything beyond that will be null and void. Let us know if we can help point you in the right direction. Comment here.

Total Recovery
2010-07-13 07:21:00
With all addiction recovery plans, the goal should be exclusive to total recovery. Anything short of this will only, with time, allow these habitual problems to resurface again in our lives. The only complete and successful treatment plan for individuals with addictions, psychological problems, life-management issues, or unhealthy habits and patterns of behavior will include working with the whole individual: spirit, mind, and body. Each and every part of the whole person must be addressed if total recovery is expected. If you have tried for recovery before and were unsuccessful, try again and address each of these areas. Let us know if we can help. Comment here.

Chart a New Course
2010-03-04 09:16:00
There are three elements involved in recovering from addictive behaviors: your body, thoughts, and feelings. The body is the channel in which recovery will take place. It must be healthy. Your thoughts need to be focused on truth. Take responsibility for your thoughts and don’t entertain lies or misunderstanding. Your body and your thoughts contribute to how you feel. Feelings or emotions are nothing more than indicators or barometers that reveal your health and thought life. They are also evidence of your personal beliefs. All three areas set the stage for your actions. If you learn how to put them in order, your recovery will be well in hand. Comment here.
